Hailed as “impeccable” and praised for her “dusky instrument”, Sri Lankan-American mezzo soprano Tahanee Aluwihare is regularly sought out for her unique vocal timbre and vibrant stage presence.
At the start of the 2022-2023 season, she made her debut with Opera San Jose as Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro.
She returns to Opera Idaho, Boston Camerata, and Cambridge Chamber Ensemble for the roles of Ježibaba in Rusalka, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, and Savitri in Savitri, respectively.
In the 2023-2024 season, she makes her debut with Teatro Grattacielo in New York City, as La Gran Vestale in La Vestale.
In previous seasons, Ms. Aluwihare has worked with Opera Memphis, Charlottesville Opera, Tri-Cities Opera, Opera Idaho, and City Lyric Opera, among others.
